To the Cornerstone Family:
I was born and raised in Canandaigua, NY, an area known as the Finger Lakes of Upstate New York. I graduated from Daemen College in Buffalo, NY with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy, dual minors in Biology and Chemistry, and a Secondary Education Certification. I received a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from St. John’s University in New York City.
Prior to being hired at Cornerstone Charter Academy, I taught all levels of chemistry, from Chemistry I to International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement Chemistry. Six of the last ten years were spent in New York State at Canandaigua Academy and Ballston Spa High School, where I also served my school as student dean. My most recent teaching position was at The American School of The Hague in Wassenaar, Netherlands, about 30 minutes from Amsterdam. Along with teaching, I coached tennis, cross-country and track.
I am very happy and excited to be here at Cornerstone Charter. As avid outdoor enthusiasts, my family and I are enjoying the Florida sunshine.
I look forward to getting to know you throughout the coming school year.
Kind regards,
Maaike Burr
